the benefits without the fruits

I'm about to graduate from the Blue Ridge School of Herbal Medicine! Tomorrow I plan on filling this post in with herbs that will give you the benefits of many amazing fruits, without the carbs! Like how one can get resveratrol without the wine, capsules or berries!

I'm making icecream from some local paw paws for graduation. it will be one of my fruit cheats for the year. not much of a cheat if you ask me. plus, it is soooo freakin good.

so, resveratrol, sold as a miracle anti-aging substance (in supplement form you need to look for trans resveratrol.) Actually, just read this. This highly priced phytochemical is also found in japanese knotweed, aka Polygonum Cuspidatum, aka the invasive week in your back yard. My friend Lewis, who is awesome, brought this to my attention. fall leaves

it's nice being back home in the mountains with my kitties. I've decided to stay put in Asheville, where I'm starting to find community. I'm finally getting around to reading "The Second Brain." Intrinsic Factor and B12 absorption is fascinating.

I'm also sad to say coconut flour is next on my "test" list for safe foods.  I just received a bulk order of it in the mail because I thought it would be my new saving grace. However, when I made delicious pudding with it and grilled some coconut flour crusted shrimp last week I had some major gas/bloating. May be too much at one time, it is high in fiber. I've almost finished my alternative sweetener and bee pollen self test. results soon in....

the pitfalls of being an extremist

well, im really great doing things cold turkey. I realized that wasn't a good idea with elimination diets. If i cut out 5 things at one time and super add in something else how will i know where the fatigue and headache are coming from? that said, im not giving up coffee until school is out. this is doing far more good than ust proving my headache are not from elimination of sugars.
